Permanent exhibition of Gobustan Museum
2012

Dd has designed and installed a permanent exhibition at the Museum of the Gobustan National Historical-Artistic Preserve. Gobustan is a unique monument where one can find petroglyphs, or stone carvings, created since the Palaeolithic Era up to the 20th century. Today, the Gobustan Preserve is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Twelve exhibition halls, a cinema and a conference hall were set up in Gobustan museum. The museum is located near the petroglyph viewing site on the Mountain of Beyukdash, and the aim of the exhibition is to provide a historic and cultural context that allows visitors to understand and interpret better the prehistoric rock art, thus enriching the experience of the visit to the mountain. The exhibition consists of two parts. The first reveals the international importance of the Gobustan petroglyphs and depicts the long history of Gobustan area and its people. The second part tells about petroglyphs themselves, the technologies of their creation, their content and meaning. A wide range of traditional and contemporary media and technologies are used for the exhibition.
